During his years of studying chemistry at the Free University of Berlin, Tom Sommerlatte also attended classes at the Academy of Fine Arts and cultivated friendships with numerous artists. Continuing his studies at the University of Rochester in New York State, and at the University of Paris, he widened his network of artist friends and exhibited in several galleries in Berlin, Rochester and Paris. Travelling in France, Spain, Scandinavia, Italy, Yugoslavia and Greece, he continued to develop and refine his approach to painting and drawing.<\/p>\n
Having obtained his PhD at the University of Paris, Sommerlatte joined the Study Group for Systems Research in Heidelberg to work on artificial intelligence and knowledge management and went on to obtain an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from INSEAD, the European Institute of Business Administration in Fontainebleau, France.<\/p>\n
He then joined the Brussels office of the international management consulting company Arthur D. Little as a consultant and was transferred to Wiesbaden when the firm opened ist German office. Sommerlatte held a series of positions within the company, moving from being a member of the European Directorate to Managing Director of the company\u2019s operations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland to Vice President of the European management consulting operations and, finally, Chairman of the company\u2019s worldwide management consulting business. Today, he is Chairman of the Advisory Board of Arthur D. Little GmbH.<\/p>\n
In 1978, Sommerlatte became a member of the Wiesbaden artists\u2019 group K\u00fcnstlergruppe50 and has been participating regularly in the group\u2019s exhibitions ever since. He is a member of the professional artists\u2019 association Berufverband Bildender K\u00fcnstlerinnen und K\u00fcnstler (BBK) and a member of the Board of Friends of the Wiesbaden Museum. Until 2016, he held an honorary professorship at the art school of the University of Kassel, Germany.<\/p>\n
Tom Sommerlatte lives in Engenhahn with his French wife, Christine, with whom he has eleven children, and paints in his studios in Engenhahn and Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, France.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
